“He is NOT a Normal Man!”

For many who profess the name of Jesus and live according to the Word, it is a deeply dangerous time to be alive. There are consistent new reports of difficulties, loss of homes, unlawful imprisonment, and even death.

Here are just a few statistics on the persecuted church:

  • 90,000 Christians were killed in 2016 (That is one Christian dying for their faith every six minutes)
  • 70% of Christians killed in 2016 were the result of tribal conflict in Africa
  • The top 10 countries for religious persecution are: North Korea, Somalia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sudan, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Eritrea

We Have So Much to Be Thankful For

As Thanksgiving looms, here at With Open Eyes we’ve been taking stock of all the amazing things the Lord has done in the past year. 2016 has been a difficult year for the world. From a contentious election to disasters worldwide, to hardships and persecutions for the church, it is easy to look at this year and feel exhausted and tired.

Yet, we are grateful that through challenges, difficulties, celebrations, and victories, Jesus has been with us. His name has been proclaimed throughout Africa as our brothers and sisters have planted churches and preached the gospel. We praise the name of the Lord for the mighty work He is doing in refugee camps through medicinal help, missionaries who visit, and the men and women who help their people through compassion, a listening ear, and ministry. Why The Election Doesn’t Change Who We Serve

Last Tuesday, we in the United States held an election to determine who will serve as our next president. As always, there were strong opinions and emotions on both sides leading up to the election and since. I heard many say prior to Tuesday that this election was the most important in our history. Others said this election will determine the future of our great nation.

Today there is much anxiety and uncertainty in our country. Read more

To Love Them Well

…. those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.”  ~ Proverbs 11:25

How do you plan and prepare to minister to men and women who are continuously and passionately pouring out their lives to share the gospel with people who have not heard?

With Open Eyes is pleased to be sending a team to Kenya and Uganda next week to do just that. For the first time we will gather a large group of our Mobile Messengers from across Kenya and Tanzania for a two-day conference. We’re praying for a time of refreshing and encouragement for the true heroes of our ministry – The Mobile Messengers. Read more

Global Ministry Movements Happen With Partnerships

He Never Intended For Us To Work Alone

“Then I will come down and talk with you there.  I will take the Spirit that is upon you and will put the same upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you may not bear it yourself alone.” Numbers 11:17

With Open Eyes
Leader Conference
April 2011 – Charlotte, NC

Serving those who serve others has taken on an entire new meaning to our team.  The tragedies and suffering around the world are signs that Jesus Christ is coming again and there is a greater sense of urgency than ever before to share the love and hope found in Him with the world.  In our own effort, it is impossible to accomplish, however with God in charge, all things are possible! For this reason, we have accepted the call for a small but vital role in the Lord’s global strategy – to accelerate His fulfillment of the Great Commission by coming along-side existing ministries around the world with credible leadership and proven effectiveness and providing them with the transportation needed to make their steps for Christ multiply rapidly.

A few weeks ago, the Lord placed a burden on our hearts to gather together with our ministry partner leaders in Africa. These mighty warriors exemplify modern day apostles, working tirelessly to seek and train other leaders to work along-side them, serving those in need, sharing Christ and discipling believers.  They have carried a burden for those suffering in their countries for some time and now, the Lord has united us to work together.

All have accepted the invitation and will be traveling to the United States next month!  We are overjoyed at having ministry leaders from Central & South Sudan, Northern & Southern Kenya and Rwanda, right in Charlotte, NC.  God’s Word is alive and true and He promises to meet us at the table He has prepared for us.

We have much to accomplish during this short visit.  We must be about our Father’s business but we also hope to impart a time of refreshing and encouragement for their souls.  For a few, this will be their first trip to the United States and for all, it will be a rare time away from their families and ministries.

We know the time is urgent and His coming is close at hand!  Because our ministry funds are used to equip their pastors in the field, would you consider helping to support one or more of their visits?  The approximate cost per person is $2500 and includes all airfare, transfers & travel visas.

As a special thank you for those willing to sponsor a pastor’s visit, we’ve set aside a time for you to meet with these amazing leaders and hear first hand of their role as a leader, mentor and developer of mobile messengers on the ground in their countries.  This will be an exciting time, to hear what God is doing, the  amazing movement He’s creating through your support!

Motorbike and Bibles At Work In South Sudan

Pastor Sosthen works in the rural areas of South Sudan. One of the first pastors we met and worked through on our first trip, Sosthen identified the many needs of the villagers in Lui. His passion for the body of Christ combined with his love to help others is an inspiration to us and others who have had the privilege of meeting him. It’s been a few years since Sosthen guided us through Lui in the original With Open Eyes documentary and on Thanksgiving Day, we received his pictures, proudly on his new motorbike and distributing the Bibles that we were able to provide thanks to your help. Today, he continues to travel, teaching and distributing Bibles, as he prepares villagers for the upcoming referendum election. The impact these gifts will make is tremendous and we are honored that the Lord provided so that we were able to equip this fine leader!

Sudan Ambassador To The United States Visits With Open Eyes

On November 8th, we were honored to have Dr. Akec Koch, Sudan Ambassador to the United States come visit with us. In light of the upcoming referendum election, Dr. Khoch reminded us to not forget our brothers and sisters in Sudan and us to PRAY for all the people of Sudan as they await what could likely be the birth of a new country and the real possibility of war.
