I recently returned from a visit with a small group of our Mobile Messengers in the Kiryandongo Refugee Camp in Uganda, and I wanted to share with you what the Lord is doing there. Due to the ongoing tribal conflict in South Sudan, Pastor Sosthen and his family were forced to leave their home in Lui in June of this year and went to Kiryandongo. Upon arriving there, Sosthen found three small church plants among the nearly 40,000 displaced South Sudanese people. He immediately began another new church with 20 people in his home, and this church has grown to well over 300 people in just a few months.
With Open Eyes has been able to assist with a new church structure, chairs, Bibles, and other supplies for the congregation of believers meeting there. Additionally, we saw an immediate need for clean water in the camp, as the closest clean water supply was a mile and a half walk. As I write this letter, the pipes have been laid and cement wellheads constructed, and we have just received word that water has reached the church compound. This is both a blessing and a witness to the entire community surrounding the church.
All of this progress is possible and accelerated by the generous support of our many faithful partners – but much work remains. We currently have twenty-four potential new Mobile Messengers-in-training, and we are preparing to locate them strategically throughout the Kiryandango Camp. The people in this camp have all been displaced like Sosthen, and the Lord has opened a great door for us to share the saving message of Jesus with them. As Sosthen shared with us during our time together, “I do not feel like I am a refugee, I am on mission!”
Would you consider joining us in this mission to reach the Kiryandongo Refugee Camp along with the unreached and underserved people of East Africa? Your gift at this critical time will help us to mobilize even more messengers of the good news of the gospel of Christ.

PS: I am also pleased to let you know about the recent additions to our With Open Eyes Team. Tom Burger has joined us as Ministry Operations Manager and Amanda Brown is new to us in the role of Communications Director. I am confident these additions will strengthen us as we continue to partner with our Mobile Messengers.
